Welcome!
Cub Scout Pack 236 - Greater Alabama Council, Arrowhead District.

Pack 236 is located in Limestone County, Alabama. Our Charter Organization is Isom's Chapel on Mooresville Road, Athens, AL, (256) 232-5892.
Cub Scout Pack 236 is dedicated to preserving the long standing tradition of Cub Scouts by providing young men ages 6-10 the opportunity to participate in scouting activities that will enable the youth of today to become leaders of tomorrow.
Cub Scouting means "doing". Everything in Cub Scouting is designed to have the boys doing activities. These activities are used to achieve the aims of Scouting - citizenship training, character development, and personal fitness. Many of these activities happen during our weekly den meeting and/or our monthly pack meetings.
As a Cub Scout, you do your best and you help others. You learn the Cub Scout Promise and the Law of the Pack and what it means.
If you are interested in learning more about the Cub Scouts, contact the Cubmaster at cubmaster@pack236.com.
ATTENTION:
AS OF NOON TODAY, THE CAMP-OUT AND FISHING RODEO IS STILL PLANNED.
See Mike Ponder's announcement below:
There are NO plans to cancel the campout tonight or the fishing rodeo tomorrow. I don't pretend to be a weather forecaster but it seems to me from looking at the radar imagines at NOAA web site the storms that are headed this way might move through quickly. Again I am no expert and am not trying to change anyone's mind on this matter.
Please use your own judgment on wither to attend or not. The location will be at for the rodeo does have shelter if need be and there is shelters near the camp ground tonight. For those that do attend I can say everything will be done to make sure you have a good time.
If you need to reach me please call me at my cell number. The last time I was at JWSP there was limited cell phone reception.
I hope to see you all there.
Mike Ponder (256-758-9808)

District Fishing Rodeo - The District is needing a volunteer or volunteers to take the lead in planning the annual Cub Scout Fishing Rodeo @ Joe Wheeler State Park. The date for this event is September the 26th. Please send an email reply to Scoutleader142@Gmail.com with "Fishing Rodeo" in the subject line.
District Camp-out - September 25 (the night before the Fishing Rodeo) Joe Wheeler State Park is allowing the District access to their primitive campground area for the one night of camping. This should help those wanting to attend the Fishing Rodeo and not have to get up so early to make it to the 8am start of the Fishing Rodeo.
For anyone wanting to attend this campout you will need to go to the Joe Wheeler State Park Camp Ground office to check in. There a representative of the District will be there at 4:30pm to check you in and you will pay the camping fee to that representative. Anyone wishing to camp can check in at 4:30pm, there will not be a District representative there before 4:30pm. The cost for camping is $3 per person.
You will be camping in the primitive camping area and will need to supply your own food and camping equipment. There are restrooms and bath houses near the primitive camping area. At the camp ground office there is a small store in case you might need to purchase anything.
This campout is structured as a Pack campout so your Pack will need to follow the Guide to Safe Scouting guidelines when it comes to outings for the Scouts. The District has only made arrangements for the Packs in the District to use the primitive campground area. Parents need to know they are responsible for the conduct and safety of their scouts.
There will be no pre assigned camp sites. The primitive camp ground area is set up as a "first come, first to set up" area. It is asked that the Packs work together as Scouters for the Packs that wish to camp together. This is a great opportunity to get your scouts their first campout of the year going.
There will be a campfire if any of the Packs and or Dens wish to share any entertainment for the District to enjoy. If you can help with the campfire please contact Mike Ponder (District Programs) be sure to put "Help with Cub Campout " in the subject line. As of the date of this posting there are no plans for a cracker-barrel.
