A fun and busy Pack Meeting

Tomorrow’s pack meeting is filled with fun.  It is the holiday season and the theme of the month is “Respect”.  Activities include..

·         Participate in a Flag Retirement Ceremony with Troop 463

·         Kick-off the Pinewood Derby season and give out cars

·         Present the Popcorn sales awards

·         Enjoy a special holiday group game

Flag Retirement Ceremony

* If you have a flag that is no longer fit according to the description below, and would like to bring it, please feel free to do so.  The ceremony is one the kids find really special and is very well received

The United States Flag Code states: "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning. (Disposal of Unserviceable Flags Ceremony) ".

In scouting and many other groups, the disposal of these flags are done at a Flag Retirement Ceremony.  Please join Boy Scout Troop 463 (our affiliated Troop) as we hold a flag retirement ceremony at our Pack Meeting

Pinewood Kick-Off

The kick-off for the Pinewood Derby is tomorrow.  We will hand out the cars as well as go over rules, dates, and other important information.  The Pinewood Derby is the morning of Saturday, January 26th, with check-in the night before. The following is a word from this year’s Pinewood Derby Chair:

“We will be handing out cars to all of the Den leaders to give to their respective dens.  We will also be seeking out volunteers to help with the Derby both at the event and helping coordinate the activities before the actual event.”

Popcorn Awards

Kernel Kirk will be giving out the Popcorn awards at the pack meeting.  The presentations will be given both the dens and to the scouts who sold popcorn.

Congratulations Pack on a job very well done this year!

Pack Meetings are held monthly at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church fellowship hall.  Meetings start at 6:30pm with exercise stations setup pre-meeting to keep the kids engaged (weather permitting).
