Service Project for
Cub & Boy Scout Units
For many years, the Cub
Scouts and Boy Scouts of Limestone County have picked up trash during and after
the Annual Fiddler's Convention at the Athens State University campus.
I would like to invite all Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of the Arrowhead District
to participate in this very worthwhile service project. By picking up trash, we
are saving the University many dollars. And plus, the scouts will get a new
outlook on those that liter.
We will be picking up trash on Sunday, October 5 beginning at 1:00 PM.
We will gather together in front of Founder's Hall (big, white building
directions below). Please wear your
Scout uniform shirt or a Scout T-shirt.
You can also pick up trash on Saturday, October 4 while the event is going on.
But you must wear your Scout uniform shirt in order to get into the event free
of charge. The scout and 1 adult accompanying the scout will get in free.
Things have changed for this year. Only 5 Scouts per hour will be able to
pick up trash. And you must register for the time frame that you want. Here
are the times that are available for picking up trash:
Saturday 9:00 am - 10:00 am
Saturday 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Saturday 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Saturday 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Saturday 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Saturday 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Saturday 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Saturday 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
You must send an email to Keith Hudy at keith.w.hudy@nasa.gov
in order to register for picking up trash. The first 5 scouts to register for
that hour will get the time that they request. I will use the date/time that I
receive the e-mail in order to determine who was first. When sending the
e-mail, you may want to list your second and third choices. You will get an
e-mail back stating which time frame you have.
Once you arrive at the campus, please go directly to the Keep Athens Limestone
Beautiful booth for trash bags. Please pick up trash for 1 hour and then enjoy
the arts & crafts and musical festivities.
